WAYNE FENTON, M.S.C.S., backend platform architect, Upwork, is a senior engineering leader and technologist, with a record of building world-class products and services. He has led engineering teams at Owler, Smarking, and Alarm.com. He has over 25 years of experience developing products for this industry as well as for social media, e-commerce, and enterprise collaboration spaces. With a strong focus on DevOps excellence and Agile development processes, he's also held leadership positions with Qualcomm, eBay, and Cisco Systems. He has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science as well as Economics from UC Berkeley and a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2016, he consulted on a project to scale cloud infrastructure to serve small businesses in Kenya.
