RACHAEL “SHELLEY” M. HAVEN, BSME, ATP, RET, has helped individuals with physical, sensory, cognitive, and learning challenges to unlock their potential with technology since 1987. Her experience in assistive technology (AT) encompasses a wide range of activities, such as evaluating client needs, designing and fabricating custom solutions, conducting workshops, and managing a technology resource center. She works as an AT consultant in private practice, focusing on how technology can help people with learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and executive functioning, as well as technology to support Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in schools. Haven has provided AT assessment, training, and technical assistance to hundreds of schools and families. She previously directed AT resources and services for the Stanford University Office of Accessible Education and was instrumental in establishing the Schwab Learning Center at Stanford, which provides enhanced services and resources for students with learning differences and ADHD.
