Prerequisite courses are highly recommended. However, it is up to each student to decide if they are necessary to succeed in the advanced courses. Some people with related education and experience may not need to take the prerequisites. Other students find them helpful as a refresher, especially if they have not been exposed to the information in a very long time or if they come from a different background that uses a different set of terminology. There is no verification process for prerequisites.
