Join UCSC Extension Ed Therapy Instructor Diana Kennedy, BCET, in "Using Math Games to Develop Number Sense, Combat Anxiety and Differentiate Instruction," a discussion about how and why games are key to teaching math. And, most importantly, you'll learn a whole bunch of them!

Learning Objectives

  • Describe how math anxiety blocks learning and why games so effectively combat it.
  • Define number sense, provide examples of it, and describe how games can build it.
  • Assess whether games address number sense, math fact memorization, or procedural fluency, and how they purposefully create games that address each area.

This is an online workshop taught through the Association of Educational Therapists.

Diana, who earned a certificate in Educational Therapy from the UCSC Silicon Valley Extension program, is now an instructor in the program. Her next online course, Educational Therapy: Structured Literacy II, starts April 1.
