
A fully updated curriculum in User Experience and Web Design!
As part of our ongoing effort to align the program with industry demand and better serve you, we've updated the User Experience and Web Design certificate program in a few key ways—for example:
The curriculum integrates tools for accessibility, inclusivity, ethical design, AI and data-based strategy.
New program requirements
Students will need to complete:
- A total of 6 courses (minimum 15 quarter units).
vs. the former requirement of 6–7 courses (minimum 17 quarter units) - You'll take: 5 core courses for 12 quarter units and 1 elective course for a minimum 3 quarter units.
Instead of 5 core courses (13 quarter units) and 2–3 elective courses (minimum 4 quarter units) - End with the certificate review.

Declared Candidacy before May 12, 2025?
Students who declared candidacy before May 12, 2025, may follow the current requirements or the former requirements that were in place when they declared. It's up to you!
If you have completed any of the discontinued elective courses in the past four years, you may still use them to fulfill the current elective requirement for the UX and Web Design Certificate Program.
