DEEPTHI NAIR, MBBS, MPH, senior director of the UCSC Silicon Valley Extension Premed Postbaccalaureate Program, has a deep passion for medicine. She earned her medical degree in India at the K.J. Somaiyya Medical College and Research Centre and a Master’s degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley. She worked with patients as a resident medical officer in cardiovascular thoracic surgery in Mumbai before coming to the San Francisco Bay area where she led the case investigation and contact tracing efforts for Santa Clara County during the pandemic. She has also worked as a lecturer with UC Berkeley School of Public Health and as an associate faculty member with the UCSF-UCB Joint Medical Program. She took over as senior director of the new Postbacc program in 2023.
