Curious about how to best prepare for the fair?
Join us at:
- Improve Communication Workshop • Oct. 3
- Basic Resume Workshop • Oct. 5
- Research the organization
- Explore which employers will be participating. Identify the top 3-5 companies you're interested in—but be sure to stay open to engaging with multiple organizations at the event.
- Do your research by reviewing company websites. What's the company's mission? values? What positions are open for internships and full-time roles? Check out social media for the latest news from the organization. Company representatives are impressed by candidates who take the time to do this!
- Prepare your introduction and questions
Have you researched participating organizations?- Reflect on reasons why each company resonates with you. Perhaps it's the specific technology they're developing, the research they're leading, or the world problem they're working to solve.
- What relevant experiences do you have? How can you be of service to the organization?
- Exercise critical thinking skills to develop questions to ask recruiters and hiring managers.
- Dress with confidence
Each industry and each company has different work attire expectations and organizational culture. Do your research, ask mentors in advance for advice, and dress with confidence! - Plan your time
Be sure to manage the time you have to ensure you're able to connect with the companies you're most interested in but remember to be open to different companies you haven't heard of. You may find an opportunity at a startup or a business-to-business organization that doesn't directly serve consumers.
