Course Description
Welcome to our immersive Education Innovation workshop series. Join master educators to explore the most current, evidence-based best-practices to keep your knowledge and skills up to date and to strengthen your ability to support every student. Each session is led by an expert in the field with real world experience, who will guide you through the material and help you apply it immediately to your work.
Join Board Certified Educational Therapist Diana Black Kennedy to discover the how and why to add games into your teaching practice without compromising rigor. Explore what games do for the brain, how to make sure they are targeting your learning goals, and how to make your own games for every subject. This hands-on workshop will introduce you to all the whys of gamification through an engaging presentation, will share many games Diana uses on a regular basis across subjects, and then will have students create their own games. Walk away with a ton of teaching materials you can use immediately with your students and have fun doing it!
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of the course, you should be able to
- Explain the neurobiological and socio-emotional benefits of playing games with your students
- Evaluate the purpose and focus of a variety of game styles
- Tailor game play to accurately and rigorously support your learning goals
- Create effective games to play across subjects, concepts, skills and knowledge

- How games combat anxiety and help optimize learning
- How to develop concepts, practice skills and master knowledge with games
- How to create board games, card games and other games to use with your students immediately
