KALPANA RAVINARAYANAN, M.S., is a technology executive, educator, and advisor with more than 25 years of experience spanning software engineering, product management, data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. She has held senior leadership roles at Zeplin, Cloudflare, Yahoo, and Inktomi, building products and organizations across search, internet infrastructure, developer tools, and SaaS. Her experience with machine learning dates back to early ML systems in web search at Yahoo and, more recently, includes building large-scale data infrastructure and AI capabilities and launching LLM-powered developer products. She also actively advises startups on AI/ML strategy, product development, and bringing new ideas to market.

She holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from GCT, Coimbatore, India. She is an inventor on five U.S. patents related to search and information retrieval.

This class meets simultaneously in a classroom and remotely via Zoom. Students are expected to attend and participate in the course, either in-person or remotely, during the days and times that are specified on the course schedule. Students attending remotely are also strongly encouraged to have their cameras on to get the most out of the remote learning experience. Students attending the class in-person are expected to bring a laptop to each class meeting.
