JUMAR T. BALACY, BA, a user experience designer at Amazon Lab126, has a decade of experience delivering products in cybersecurity, surgical robotics, and supply chain management. He’s held a variety of roles—developer, business analyst, and product manager. However, it wasn't until he served in the U.S. Navy that he discovered his passion for teaching. As a combat camera diver, he designed and led a course to prepare sailors for dive school. Now, as a design educator, he teaches students the practical application of their technical skills and how to navigate the UX job search. He earned a certificate in the User Experience and Web Design program and serves on the program advisory board.

This class meets simultaneously in a classroom and remotely via Zoom. Students are expected to attend and participate in the course, either in-person or remotely, during the days and times that are specified on the course schedule. Students attending remotely are also strongly encouraged to have their cameras on to get the most out of the remote learning experience. Students attending the class in-person are expected to bring a laptop to each class meeting.
