Welcome to our immersive Education Innovation workshop series. Join master educators to explore the most current, evidence-based best-practices to keep your knowledge and skills up to date and to strengthen your ability to support every student. Each session is led by an expert in the field with real world experience, who will guide you through the material and help you apply it immediately to your work.

Designed for educators who are new to structured numeracy, this special 2-day online seminar includes the 1st two foundational math seminars in the m●sense professional development series, preparing educators to continue on to the other math content courses that follow. Learn about the research and pedagogy behind a structured numeracy methodology, in addition to the powerful 9Lines(C) strategy for learning and retaining the multiplication facts and much more!

An Introduction to m●sense

The 1st day provides participants with the fundamentals for teaching math in a structured, multisensory and developmentally appropriate approach.

Developing Symbol Imaging

The 2nd day teaches strategies to build symbol imaging to support the acquisition of the math facts and fluency with their many applications such as multi-digit multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, percents and much more!

Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of the course, you should be able to:

  • Identify a structured numeracy program and the 4 phases of the development of a concrete to abstract sequence
  • Explain the research that supports the effectiveness of a structured numeracy approach to teaching.
  • Demonstrate the 9 Lines fact acquisition strategy to their students in a small group, whole class, or one-on-one instructional setting.
