Course Description

Welcome to our immersive AI technology workshop series. During these sessions you will be introduced to new and established AI tools that will help you create and manipulate content in new and powerful ways. Each session is led by an industry expert who will guide you through the material and share its real-world implications.

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming part of the engineering workflow. This workshop introduces AI as a practical copilot for working professionals using real engineering examples drawn from public-domain course material and prior UCSC teaching content. The focus is on accelerating learning, problem-solving, and communication while maintaining engineering judgment.

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of the workshop, you should be able to

  • Use AI to accelerate technical learning.
  • Break complex engineering challenges into manageable pieces.
  • Improve technical communication across audiences.
  • Develop a personalized approach to working with AI.
  • Apply AI responsibly while maintaining engineering judgment.

Topics Include

  • Understanding your own learning style, strengths, and communication preferences before applying AI tools
  • Using AI to teach and tutor: explaining concepts, generating quizzes, and building personalized learning paths
