Important Program Conditions
Estimated Cost*: Includes $2,000 international student fee, $150 application fee, and $75 certificate review fee. Estimated Cost does not include fees paid to the US government for change of status, visa appointment, or OPT applications.
Accounting*: Students who have previous accounting experience can take Introduction to Accounting I and II together in the first quarter. Students without experience should take 1 required course per quarter. Introduction to Accounting I is offered in the Fall, Winter, and Summer quarters.
Personal Financial Planning*: Students must complete the 2 prerequisite courses before taking any required or elective courses. Practicum course is only offered in the fall and spring quarters.
Educational Therapy*: A background in this field is highly recommended for this program. Practicum course is only offered in the summer quarter.
TESOL*: Practicum course is only offered in fall and spring quarters.
Computer Programming*: Prior knowledge in this field is recommended for students interested in this program.
Software Engineering and Quality*: Prior knowledge in this field is recommended for students interested in this program.
User Experience and Web Design*: Practicum course is only offered in the winter and summer quarters.

Additional Curricular Requirements for International Students

All International Students must take at least 12 Units Per Quarter
All students with F-1 immigration status must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units each quarter. To reach 12 units per quarter:
  • You have the opportunity to explore and enroll in courses outside of your certificate program. For example, if you are doing a User Experience and Web Design Certificate, you can also enroll in eligible Business and Leadership courses
  • You may enroll in a 3 unit internship as part of your 12 units. Click here for additional information regarding our Internship for Credit Program.
  • You may also enroll in courses at other institutions. Students should consult with the International Student Advisor before enrolling. Click here for guidelines regarding enrollment at another school, other than UCSC Main Campus.
  • You may take courses at UCSC Main Campus through UCSC Extension’s Open Campus Concurrent Enrollment Program. Students should consult the International Student Advisor if they plan to enroll in this program. Please keep in mind our main campus is 40 miles from Silicon Valley.
