Workforce Frequently Asked Question

How do I log in to my student account and Canvas account?

Student Account

A Workforce advisor will create your student account for you and send an email to the address you used to create your web login. Please create a password.

Your student account is where you will find your final grades, your class schedule. We will use the information you provide there—your address, phone number, email address, etc—to contact you.

Canvas—Online Classroom

A Canvas account is created automatically when you are enrolled into your first course. Canvas is also known as an online classroom because you'll find materials for all your current courses there. You'll find online courses and the online component of classroom courses. Your Canvas account is where you'll log in to attend the live-online Zoom class meetings, find your syllabus and other class materials, contact the instructor, submit assignments, and view your grades.

First-Time Canvas Login

The first time you log in, click Forgot Password and enter the same username as your student account. You will be instructed to create a password.

Canvas Access

Access to your course in Canvas will expire 30 days after the course has ended. You are encouraged to download any necessary materials before this time. Note that certain materials may not be available for download at the instructor’s discretion. Lecture videos are not available for download. A UCSC Silicon Valley team member cannot get access to the materials or send them to you after the course has expired.

Please keep a record of both login and passwords used for your student account and Canvas account. If you forget your password for either account, click on the Forgot Password link to reset.
