  • College Degree (bachelor's, master's, or other higher degree)
  • English Proficiency score: iBT TOEFL 70, IELTS 6.0, Duolingo 50, TOEIC 760, iTEP 3.7, GTECT CBT 1200, GTECT (tablet) 1204, Pearson (PTE Academic) 59, Pearson Versant 65, or equivalent and accepted qualifications.
    Note: If within the last 2 years you have completed a degree program at a college/university in a country where English is the primary language, you may qualify for an English Waiver.

To apply to UCSC Extension as a full-time international student.

1. Download and fill out the International Student Application Form.

2. Gather the following documents: 

  • Bank statement showing a minimum of $30,000 to cover yearly living and tuition expenses
  • Proof of English Proficiency
  • Copy of college transcripts or diploma
  • Copy of passport
  • (optional) Resume
  • (optional) Personal Statement

Already in the U.S. or planning to transfer from another U.S. institution? Also, provide the following:

  • Copy of visa
  • Copy of I-94
  • Copy of recent I-20 (transfer students)

4. Log into your Student Account and pay $150 application fee and $2,300 International Program Fee*.  


  • Application Fee: $150 (non-refundable) due at the time of application.
  • International Program Fee*: $2,300 due at the time of application and is refundable if enrollment is canceled up to three business days before the orientation session begins. A $200 cancellation fee will apply. 
  • Optional Express Mail Fee: $50 for immigration documents for overseas students who request express mail.
  • Variable Course Fees: Course fees vary depending on course selection. Students must enroll in a minimum of 12 units per term, except in the final term.

* The international program fee applies to all students participating in our international program and provides coverage for the entire duration of your studies.  The fee pertains to all international student services. This includes maintenance of your F-1 status, orientation, academic programming, advising, and events that maximize your learning and career potential. Moreover, it provides access to UCSC Extension resources such as our computer labs, wifi, housing assistance, medical insurance assistance, photo ID card, and other general needs.
