CURTIS S. CHEN, CFP®, is the principal financial planner of Chen Financial Group, LLC., a firm that assists clients with employee stock option and restricted stock diversification strategies, college planning, home purchase analysis, and retirement planning. He also consults with companies on company-sponsored retirement plans. Chen earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science and engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology before moving to the San Francisco Bay area to work as a software developer. After 11 years in software development leadership positions, including tenures as an early employee of two successful startups, Chen turned to his true calling—financial planning. He holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® and Chartered Retirement Plan SpecialistSM credentials and teaches Applied Mathematics for Financial Planning in the UCSC Silicon Valley Extension Personal Financial Planning program.
