AUSTIN LESEA, principal FPGA/ASIC engineer at Lockheed Martin, is a highly skilled engineer with a demonstrated, decades-long history of working in the semiconductor industry and sharing his experience in the classroom. He previously worked as principal engineer in Circuits & System for Xilinx Research Labs where he was responsible for investigation of new technologies, tools and methods. He has more than 100 U.S. patents in his name. He has also held leadership positions in several other Silicon Valley tech companies. In addition to a passion for semiconductors and physics, his skills include debugging, embedded systems and Verilog, as well as C, C++, and Python languages. He earned a Master’s of Science degree from UC Berkeley in Electronics and Computer Science and Communications Theory, Optimization and Control; as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is the co-author of FPGA-based Prototyping Methodology Manual: Best Practices in Design-for-Prototyping; Microprocessor Interfacing Techniques (Sybex); and Virtex Under the Hood, 2nd Edition.
