ALEXANDER KORNIAKOV, Ph.D., CPA, CGMA, is in private practice and teaching accounting and taxation at local community colleges. His accounting experience includes assisting various clients with federal and state research tax credit and orphan drug tax credit claims. Before joining UCSC Extension, he held a position at the Accounting Methods and Credit Services Group of the Federal Tax Practice at KPMG. Korniakov's research related to tax credit and orphan drug tax credit has appeared in a number of peer-reviewed technical publications including the AICPA Tax Adviser, Tax Notes and Accounting Today, as well as many scientific publications and technical journals such as the journals of the American Chemical Society, Elsevier, and Wiley. He has a master’s degree in Management as well as Financial Engineering, and a doctorate in Chemical Engineering. He is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in New York, California and Hawaii and holds a Chartered Global Management Accountant designation of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Tax Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
