This certificate program offers a comprehensive curriculum in Embedded Systems to help new engineers gain experience in the field and benefit practitioners who want to keep up with changing technology. Instruction is geared to working professionals in a wide variety of fields, including: hardware design, FPGA implementation, firmware and device programming, and embedded software development. Join us in this session where program coordinators and instructors provide an overview of the UCSC Extension Embedded Systems certificate program.
BENJAMIN TING, B.S.E.E., M.S.E.E., Embedded Systems program chair, has over 16 years of experience in the semiconductor and EDA industries. He has taught for UCSC Extension since 2008 and serves as chair of the Embedded Systems certificate program. He is a verification architect at Xilinx, where he is responsible for the SOC methodology of Xilinx’s next generation family of devices. His experience encompasses multigigabit networking designs, graphics and processors, as well as FPGAs and mixed-signal programmable SOCs.
HINKMOND WONG, M.S., is a Java architect and consulting member of technical staff at Oracle. He made major contributions to Java development at Sun Microsystems and has extensive experience with the Internet of Things, Big Data, SQL, NoSQL, cloud computing, agile development and mobile platforms. He has seven U.S. patents, one journal publication, and is the author of a book on Java. He earned a master's degree in computer engineering from Santa Clara University.
