Course Description:
This final graduate-level course in the three-part series toward certification in alternative education teaching includes independent research in the area of alternative education. Students will develop an independent pedagogy from which to conduct their teaching. This course combines the paradigm of master teacher with the pedagogy of alternative education. The major concepts of a critical pedagogy will be considered, including the social construction of knowledge, the power-knowledge relation, and the importance of applied theory in alternative education. Students will complete a final graduate level written project. A field experience component is also included.
Prerequisite(s):
Successful completion of "AltEd 2: Motivation of Creativity in Alternative Education."
