Course Description:
This second graduate level course in the three-course series is designed for alternative education teachers who have completed "AltEd 1: Pedagogy of Alternative Education." This course builds on the foundations introduced in the first course. The focus of this course is on the study of the dynamics of motivation and behavior, parent involvement, and communication and interviewing techniques used by alternative education teachers. Topics include the attributes of exceptional and master teachers and the principles used by effective alternative education teachers. The motivation of creativity will be a central theme throughout the course, as we further develop the pedagogy of literacy in alternative education. A field experience component is also included.
Prerequisite(s):
Successful completion of "AltEd 1: Pedagogy of Alternative Education."
