Course Description:
This course provides a simplified but comprehensive foundation for a practical, systematic, multisensory program in basic mathematics. Topics include highly effective methods for teaching about the acquisition, modification and use of appropriate manipulatives for teaching about time and money; multisensory instruction for telling time to the hour, half-hour and minute; as well as word-problem applications for both time and money. The "Money" unit will include strategies to support students' memory in terms of identifying coins and values, and counting mixed coins systematically. Extension and enrichment activities are included for each unit.
