4610 EdTher: Multisensory Methodology--Demystifying Learning Differences

X311.40 EDUC

back

Course Description:

Do some of the students in your classroom simply forget what you teach them, even after one day? Do you have clients you can't seem to reach during one-on-one tutoring? Educators, therapists, and parents who apply options from multisensory methodologies can expand their repertoire of effective treatments and remedies. Participants in this forum explore specific learning difficulties and their corresponding multisensory options. Activities focus on the three major multisensory components--audio, visual, and kinesthetic--and how to use the components in a simultaneous mix, matched to assessment results and individual education plans (IEPs). Instructor modeling and case studies demonstrate ways to check on client feedback and to adjust the approach for best results. Participants are encouraged to identify their own creative ways to apply multisensory methodologies to achieve a strong balance between the science and the art of helping others to gain the confidence to learn more.
