Privacy of Student Records
The Registrar of UCSC Extension is responsible for maintaining Extension student records, and any questions about them should be addressed to the Registrar's office in writing, at 1101 Pacific Ave., Suite 200, Santa Cruz, CA 95060-7507.
The policies governing the disclosure of information from student records, specifically the Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and the University of California Policies Applying to the Disclosure of Information from Student Records, are available at our offices in Santa Cruz and Cupertino. The full text of the federal law is available at the Student Affairs Office, located at 241 Hahn Student Services on the UCSC campus, (831) 459-4446.
Note: The University is required by federal law to request your SSN and report your SSN and other pertinent information to the Internal Revenue Service pursuant to the reporting requirements imposed by the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997. The University also will use the SSN you provide to verify your identity. This notification is provided to you as required by the Federal Privacy Act of 1974.

To park on the UCSC campus Monday-Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., you must secure a parking permit from the Parking Office in H Barn. Parking at our Sunnyvale, UC MBEST/Marina and Cupertino classroom facilities is complimentary. Two to three hours of free parking are available at Santa Cruz UTC.
UCSC Libraries
Extension students can use UCSC campus libraries without a fee if they do not wish to check books out of the library. If you do want checkout privileges, you must join UCSC Friends of the Library. Call the library circulation desk at (831) 459-4562 for information.
Tape Recording, Filming, and Videotaping of Classes
Regulations do not permit tape recording, filming, videotaping or any other recording of any Extension program without the express written permission of UCSC Extension.
Student Conduct
Extension students are expected to conform to a code of conduct that is appropriate to the adult, professional audience we serve. Disruption of teaching, learning, research or administration through such activities as, but not limited to, dishonesty, forgery, theft, disorderly conduct, physical or verbal abuse, threats of violence, unsanctioned use of alcohol, unlawful use of controlled substances, or any other action that might threaten UCSC Extension property or the health and safety of any person on UCSC Extension property or attending any UCSC Extension sponsored event, is grounds for severe sanction. Please review UCSC student policies for a more complete description.
Crime Awareness
Federal law requires the reporting of crime statistics on college and university campuses. For help in obtaining crime incidence information relative to UCSC Extension classroom facilities, call Robert Kemp at (831) 427-6689. UCSC annual security report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings owned or controlled by UCSC, and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. You can obtain a copy of this report by contacting the UCSC Police Department or by accessing the following Web site: http://www2.ucsc.edu/police/reports.html.
Sexual Harassment
The University cherishes the free and open exchange of ideas and enlargement of knowledge. To maintain this freedom and openness requires objectivity, mutual trust and confidence; it requires the absence of coercion, intimidation or exploitation. The principal responsibility for maintaining these conditions must rest upon those members of the University community who exercise most authority and leadership: faculty, managers and supervisors.
The University has therefore instituted a number of measures designed to protect its community from sexual and other forms of harassment. Information, advice, referrals and/or copies of UCSC Sex Offense Policy and Procedures for Reports of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment are available to all students, faculty and staff by contacting Rita E. Walker, Title IX Coordinator/Sexual Harassment Officer, 190 Kerr Hall, at (831) 459-2462. The Title IX Coordinator is also available to investigate other violations of Title IX. Questions regarding discrimination may be directed to the Affirmative Action Office at (831) 459-2686.
