Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
Summer Intensive Certification Program

UCSC Extension is pleased to launch its Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) 2008 Summer Intensive Certificate Program. This program offers a comprehensive sequence of courses in Linguistics and Education specifically designed to prepare you to enter the TEFL field. The TEFL Program is taught by highly experienced instructors who bring their unique expertise and knowledge into the classroom.

If you are planning to travel abroad and are interested in teaching English, completing the TEFL Certificate Program is a great asset for addressing the unique challenges of teaching students with little or no exposure to English. In fact, for more than eight years, UCSC Extension has offered this certificate training in Egypt, and currently has more than 150 TEFL graduates teaching throughout that country.

TEFL Program Information

Location:
The TEFL Certificate Program is held at the University Town Center (UTC), UCSC Extension’s campus in downtown Santa Cruz. A picturesque coastal city with moderate weather, Santa Cruz features miles of beautiful, clean, sandy Pacific Ocean beaches—perfect for surfing, volleyball, and sunbathing. Downtown Santa Cruz, particularly Pacific Avenue with its numerous restaurants and outdoor cafés, is a lively and vibrant place offering unique shops and boutiques, galleries, theaters and cinemas, and a thriving local arts scene.

Earn University Credit and a Certificate:
14 quarter units of University credit are granted upon satisfactory completion of the TEFL program and are included in the tuition. Participants are awarded a certificate at the conclusion of the TEFL program.
