Transfer and Withdrawal, Frequently Asked Questions
How do I drop a course? Am I eligible for a refund?
Drop Policy A $40 processing fee will be withheld for each course section drop. All requests made by students must be received online or in writing at least seven calendar days before a class begins. If we do not receive the request in that time period, no refund will be granted. However, you may still request to be withdrawn from the course. Only course tuition fees are refundable. Registration and certificate fees are non-refundable. Some UCSC Extension programs require more advanced notice for drops and a larger amount is forfeited when granted.
All refunds are put on your student account to be used toward future enrollments, or via credit card or check depending on payment type used in original transaction, if requested. All drops granted by UCSC Extension due to cancellation or discontinuation will be made in full. Special programs often require deposits. It is the responsibility of the student to comply with the financial obligations, deadlines and policies established and published for these programs.
Drop at least seven calendar days before a class begins. If we do not receive the request you will be withdrawn and receive a grade of 'W'. Some UCSC Extension programs require more advanced notice for refunds and a larger amount is forfeited when a refund is granted.
Withdrawal Policy If a student does not intend to, or for any reason cannot, complete a course, it is the student's obligation to formally notify UCSC Extension by filling out and submitting a withdrawal form. Failure to do so will result in a default grade of "F" on the student's permanent academic record.
Refunds are only available prior to the start of the course, as detailed below. By requesting a withdrawal, the student acknowledges that there is no refund available.
Withdrawal requests must be received before the last day of the course.
