High School Scholars Program

High School ScholarsThe High School Scholars Program, offered through University Extension, provides an opportunity for qualified seniors who attend Santa Cruz County high schools to take UC Santa Cruz academic courses. The program is administered through University Extension in cooperation with Cowell College. Program advisors help the participants select appropriate courses from those available.

HSSP is an annual program beginning each year with the fall quarter. The enrollment process takes place during the summer months.

Benefits

Participants experience university life. They will be able to explore new subjects, get to know UC Santa Cruz faculty and students, and use the university library.

Participants who attend another University of California campus will receive transfer credit for their course work at UC Santa Cruz that appears on their UC Extension transcript. Most other colleges and universities outside of the UC system will award transfer credit as well.

Procedures

Applications are available through high school counselors and UCSC Extension. The completed application, all fees, and an official copy of the applicant's high school transcript must be submitted to UCSC Extension by June 25, 2010. A photocopy of test scores must be received by July 16. Students who are accepted into the program will be notified by August 13 and will be sent additional information regarding participation fees, the orientation in September, and enrollment procedures.
