Application Procedure for International Students

Our international studies programs are designed for individuals who would be attending courses in the U.S. on a student visa. The application process differs based on whether you are currently living in the U.S. or abroad.

  • If you are currently living in the U.S., please follow the process outlined below.
  • If you reside outside the U.S., please click here to learn about our partnership with EC Higher Education and how to apply.

To apply to UCSC Extension as a full-time international student if you reside in the U.S.

1. Download the International Student Application Form.

2. Fill out the form. We will create a student account for you to which you can submit the $150 payment via credit card. Potential certificate students will also be charged the international student advising fee of $2,000.  The advising fee is refundable if enrollment is cancelled up to three business days prior to the orientation session. A $200 cancellation fee will apply. You also have the option to pay by check. Make a check payable to "UC Regents" and mail it in or drop it off with your application.

3. Scan and email a financial statement from your bank account or a sponsor's bank account showing that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your studies in the United States. The 9-month professional certificate programs require financial resources of at least $25,000. The cost of tuition varies depending on the certificate you choose. Total course and materials fees for a program are approximately $10,000. This does not include books.
