Application Procedure for International Students

Application ProcedureTo Apply To UCSC Extension As A Full-Time International Student:

1. Download the International Student Application Form

2. Fill out the form  and we will create a student account for you where you can submit the $150 payment via credit card. Potential Certificate students will also be charged the international student advising fee of $2,000.  The Advising Fee is refundable if enrollment is cancelled up to three business days prior to the orientation session. A $200 cancellation fee will apply.  You also have the option to pay by check, make a check payable to "UC Regents" and mail it in or drop it off with your application.

3. Scan and email a financial statement from your bank account or a sponsor's bank account showing that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your studies in the United States. The 9-month professional certificate programs require financial resources of at least $25,000. The cost of tuition varies depending on the certificate you choose. Total course and materials fees for a program are approximately $10,000. This does not include books.

  • Application Fee: $150 (non-refundable) due at the time of application.
  • International Student Fee*: $2,000 due at the time of application and is refundable if enrollment is cancelled up to three business days before the orientation session begins. A 10% cancellation fee will apply.
  • Optional Express Mail Fee: $50 for immigration documents for overseas students who request express mail.
  • Variable Course Fees: Course fees vary depending on course selection; students must enroll in a minimum of 12 units per term, except in the final term.

* This fee includes immigration and academic advising, SEVIS recordkeeping and monitoring, and a four-hour international student workshop during the orientation session.  This fee does not include medical insurance, course tuition and fees, or the cost to change your visa status to F-1.
