Systems and Network Security


Demand for Network Security Professionals Higher Than Ever
The inherent vulnerabilities of the Internet are no great secret. A single individual with malicious intent can burden companies with enormous costs in lost revenue, increased expense, and damaged customer confidence. There has never been a greater need for IT professionals who understand and can fend off these dangers. However, to do so they must possess the knowledge, skills and tools to adequately monitor and control the security of computer networks and Web and e-commerce applications.

Who Should Attend This Program
This certificate program is intended for network and system engineers, technically oriented web masters, ISP professionals, web-based distributed system developers, system and network administrators. Project and product managers of web and internet technologies as well as technical sales and marketing professionals will also benefit substantially. Others who wish to gain broad technical knowledge of Internet security can also find what they need to know here.




Prerequisites
Students enrolled in this program are expected to be familiar with Web and internet basics, computer network architectures and protocols, and at least one modern operating system. In addition, many of the courses in the program have specific prerequisites that are listed in the course descriptions.

Recommended Course Sequence
We recommend that you begin with "Computer Networking Essentials." Otherwise, courses may be taken in any order.

Note: Some courses may be listed in more than one program, however, only one course may be shared between two Engineering and Technology certificate programs unless otherwise noted.

C or better in all courses.
Timeline: Complete minimum units/courses within 3 years.

Courses completed more than five years prior to date of certificate issuance cannot be used to fulfill requirements
