Knowledge Services and Enterprise Management (KSEM) is a graduate-level certificate program offered by UCSC Extension in Silicon Valley. Working in conjunction with Extension, the curriculum was designed and developed by the newest graduate program at the UCSC Baskin School of Engineering: Technology and Information Management.
KSEM is a new interdisciplinary field that addresses the challenges faced in today's global and knowledge-based economy. Synthesizing ideas from computer science, economics, and business management, KSEM studies the application of information technology and knowledge services to the management of high-tech enterprises and other complex systems.
The KSEM certificate program is designed to prepare graduates for careers in a wide variety of professional disciplines:
The KSEM certificate is geared toward graduates of technical degree programs in computer science, engineering, econometrics and life sciences. Other technically-oriented professionals working in analytical environments will also benefit from the program.
Training in the basics of statistics, stochastic process and other algorithmic approaches (i.e., UCSC's "CE 107: Introduction to Stochastic Methods of System Analysis").
Courses may be taken in any order and combination, provided individual course prerequisites have been met. Students must complete at least TWO of the four Core courses. Any remaining unit requirements may be satisfied by taking program elective courses.
