Instructional Design for Educators and Corporate Trainers

Develop Your Capacity to Maximize Learning in Three Specialized Tracks

The Instructional Design for Educators and Corporate Trainers certificate program will develop your capacity to organize and deliver learning using methods that take into account learner needs, learning styles, organizational goals, and effective evaluation practices. UCSC Extension offers three specialized study tracks: Designing Online Instruction, Instructional Design for K-12 Educators, and Instructional Design for Corporate Trainers.

Acquire the Best Instructional Design Techniques for the Classroom and the Boardroom

Our comprehensive Instructional Design program offers a foundation in learning theories and styles, cultural proficiency, and specific techniques for each track. Develop the technical facility to employ and assess online courses with the Designing Online Instruction track. If you are a classroom educator, you can learn classroom management techniques, strategies for effective group work, and approaches to learning differences in the Instructional Design for K-12 Educators track. Perfect corporate presentations, fine-tune your facilitation skills and develop training programs you can bring back to work in our Instructional Design for Corporate Trainers curriculum.

Assessments Target Skills Needing Special Attention

Instructors model the best of instructional design, starting with assessments of each participant’s needs, and then coach toward the next developmental stage. Assessments reveal areas in need of special attention, such as facilitating group discussions or setting up company-wide evaluation schemes. Participants build practical approaches to online learning, facilitation, the use of emerging technologies, intercultural communication, and the evaluation of curriculum and training vendors. They also provide the practical and technical knowledge needed to develop online instruction and support K-12 teachers.
