Diverse Career Opportunities in Silicon Valley
As businesses respond to the rigorous demands of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, they have called upon the skills of internal and public accountants. The need for internal audit and controls is higher than ever, and professionals who can combine knowledge of the particular business with the formal accounting knowledge to perform these functions are in high demand.
Fully-Trained Accountants and Auditors Have the Best Prospects
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, the best job prospects will be for accountants and auditors who have a college degree plus an accounting certification. Employment of accountants is expected to grow faster than average through the year 2014. Accountants employed by the federal government averaged $74,907 a year in 2005; auditors averaged $78,890. Certified Public Accountants (CPA) can do even better and have broadened opportunities as financial executives.
