Online learning is convenient—you do not have to commute, and you may be able to attend class as your schedule permits. However, this instructional method requires discipline and self-motivation on the student’s part. Your instructor will demand the same quality of work from you as they would in a face-to-face classroom setting. It will take a similar number of hours of preparation and attendance to complete the course.
Remember that your course may include deadlines and specific instructions on assignments but there won’t be anyone telling you to turn in your assignments—it’s your responsibility to stay on top of all course requirements.
No matter when you decide to study, you will be held accountable for all the assignments, projects and tests required to complete your course and earn a grade.
Although online instructors are not available 24/7, UCSC Extension Online uses a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to ensure your online learning experience is successful.
