UCSC Extension Computer Labs
PC Labs
The computer systems installed in these labs are equipped with the current versions of software required for all courses scheduled here. The software includes a portfolio of business, design, programming, database and tool systems. The software includes the titles most commonly found in Silicon Valley companies. Most lab computers allow printing and high-speed Internet access.
Macintosh Lab
Our upgraded Macintosh lab now boasts cutting-edge workstations. Each workstation has a Mac Pro with Dual-Core Intel processors, 20-inch flat-panel Apple cinema display and high-speed Internet access. Each workstation is fully loaded with professional software, including Adobe CS4. With these state-of-the-art workstations, we offer hands-on courses on graphics and Web design, as well as courses on developing Rich Internet Applications, mobile and gaming applications.
This laboratory houses dual overhead projectors, giving instructors the ability to teach on two screens at once, thus enhancing the impact and value of class presentations.
Cisco Lab
This laboratory is equipped with Cisco network appliances on a network backbone. Current levels of Cisco IOS are installed. An interface to the network equipment is provided through PCs. These systems are equipped with the software required to provide you with practical experience configuring the same Cisco equipment you'll encounter in many Silicon Valley enterprises. In addition, the student systems are equipped with the same software installed in all other laboratories.
Open Lab
UCSC Extension Silicon Valley provides an open lab where students may complete homework assignments using a selection of software tools equivalent to those in PC Labs and the Mac Lab. The Open Lab is available to current students during the building's normal operating hours. Login may be required for some software.
