Retraining Assistance

Displaced or disadvantaged workers may be eligible for federal assistance through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) or the Employment Development Department (EDD). For students who qualify, funds may be applied toward the cost of the Extension course fees, books, and materials. For a list of sponsored programs, please click here.

For additional information or to determine eligibility, contact either your local Workforce Investment Board or Extension’s coordinator at wib@ucsc-extension.edu. Funding eligibility is determined prior to enrolling or participating in any course.

The WIB offices listed below can provide you with information about Workforce Investment Act grants as well as Trade Adjustement Assistance, which is geared towards workers who have lost employment as a result of international trade.
