New Web Design Certificate Option for Experienced Designers
With the continued evolution of Internet technologies and design practices, professional Web designers need to continually acquire and implement new tools and techniques. With more than 20 regularly-updated courses, our Web Design certificate program is the most comprehensive in the Bay Area. To date, the certificate has included a sequence of courses that start with the basic skills and can make you a competent designer in key aspects of Web Design. However, our students, most of whom are working professionals, have asked for a certificate track tailored to advanced students.
So beginning in the fall quarter, we've made our requirements more flexible, so that both entry-level and experienced designers can get exactly the skills they need to start a career or stay competitive. The certificate program will have two tracks of study. For those new to the Web Design field, we recommend that you take the prerequisites and all the foundation courses. Experienced Web designers can take a mix of foundation and advanced courses based on their individual knowledge and career goals. Either approach leads to a UC certificate.
If you've already started a certificate program with us, your previous credits will still be honored. And the new flexibility also applies to existing candidates. We encourage all students to review the new course structure on the Web Design program course page, and join us for the Program Overview event on January 9, 2012 for a presentation on this change. New and returning students are welcome to attend. For questions, please contact program@ucsc-extension.edu.
