In Recognition of Our Industry Partners

Open Access SoftwareUCSC Extension’s mission is to provide high-impact courses and UC-accredited certificate programs to help professionals acquire up-to-date expertise. Extension is the leading professional educator for Silicon Valley employers. Training in the field of engineering often requires computer-based instruction or hands-on exercises using tools, boards or servers. That’s why 55 of our courses are lab-based, and many more require students to use open access software (open source or free download) to practice new skills.

In addition to the open access model, we also obtain donations and grants from leading technology companies to support course activities. Such donations include commercial-grade tool licenses, lab access, student accounts for developer resources, and product boards for student practice. These real-world tools, labs and development environments give our students hands-on experience that they can bring back to the workplace right away or use to pursue career advancement.

We want to acknowledge and sincerely thank the partners who help our students build valuable new skills: Agilent Technologies, Apple, Amazon, ARM, Cisco, Cloudera, Computer Associates, Fluid, Invision, Intel, JetBrains, Mentor Graphics, Microsoft, NetApp, Synopsys, Tableau, and VMware.
